Golden Bears football returns to Foote Field

(August 19, 2010) The University of Alberta Golden Bears football team returns to the turf at Foote Field on Saturday, August 21 as training camp officially kicks off for the 2010 season.
Camp begins on Saturday, August 21 at 9:00 am, and will see the Bears travel to Calgary for an exhibition game on August 28, and then wrap-up camp on August 31.
Last season the Bears went 4-4 and made the playoffs for the first time in three seasons.
Ten-year head coach Jerry Friesen will look to improve upon that regular season record, and guide the team to their second consecutive season of Canada West post-season action.
The line-up features a strong core of 41 returning players, including quarterback Julian Marchand, All-Canadian defensive end Craig Gerbrandt, All-Canadian offensive lineman Terris Paliwoda, and three-time All-Canadian kicker Hugh O'Neill. Also returning are defensive backs Randon Ralph, Chris Muchena and Jason Hetherington, as well as linebacker Jean-Marc Jones, receivers Jess Valleau, and David Court, and runningbacks Matt Jarvis and Smith Wright.
