In the Spotlight - BRAYDEN TWARYNSKI #54
#1 What is your current situation, team or teams, position?
Currently, I’m a Defensive Lineman for the Midget Stamps. However I am proud to say that in the Fall, I will be once again suiting up for the Bishop O’Byrne Bobcats in my first year as a Senior! With knowledgeable, experienced coaches like Coach MacCready and a group of teammates whose heart and soul live for the sport we look forward to having a successful 2010 football season!
#2 When did you start playing football?
I started playing football in 2005 when I was 10 years old. My parents bought me “Madden 05” for my 10th Birthday – and I was hooked! I have held love and passion for the sport of Football ever since.
#3 What is was your best moment in football?
After thinking about it a countless number of times, I’ve been unable to narrow it down to two moments that I am particularly very proud of. It is a tie between being selected for the 2008 CBFA Selects Team (winning all three of our games in St. Louis), and winning the Division 1 City Championship last season as a Grade 10 with the Bobcats Junior team.
#4 How was your past season?
My past season of being in Grade 10 and a member of the Bishop O’Byrne Bobcats Junior Football program was very exciting and rewarding to me. As a team, we put in our blood, sweat, and tears - along with long hours of work to accomplish our Goal of beating St. Francis and winning a Division 1 City Championship! For the upcoming Fall Season, with the group of guys we have moving into Grade 12, along with the juniors moving up to Grade 11, I feel we have a tremendous amount of player skill and knowledge from the coaches that will definitely help us to achieve a goal-accomplishing season.
#5 How do you like playing your position?
I enjoy my position as a Defensive Lineman very much. I think what I enjoy most about my position is that it allows me to have the opportunity to make big plays, but still lets me hold the ability to work with my teammates to cause turnovers and stoppages.
#6 What do feel you need to improve on?
At this point in time, I feel that every aspect of the position I play, and as a football player in general, all require improvement. I am the kind of person who believes that I can never be too strong, to fast, or too skilled. I think that this quality that I possess is what leaves me with an everlasting desire to become a better player each and every time I step on the field – be it at practices or in games. With the coaching staff available to me at Bishop O’Byrne, I feel that my final two seasons of high school football will be an exciting and rewarding opportunity to not only improve my skill as a player, but to gain traits and qualities that I can use on and off the field.
#7 Do you have plans after high school? Do you want to play football in college?
I would love to play football beyond the high school level. Although at this time I don’t know what I would like to become educated in through post secondary schooling, I do know that I do want to go to either College or University [and play football] for sure. Being from Saskatoon, I bleed Green - so the U of S Huskies would probably be my first choice for CIS Football. However, if an NCAA opportunity were to present itself, I would be interested in pursuing that as well.

Where do you see yourself in the long run?
I aspire to complete university or college and find a career that I have a passion for. Although I would enjoy playing football as a career either in the CFL or NFL, possessing another diverse, physically demanding job (i.e. police officer or military) would also be something I would enjoy to do.
How do you prepare before a game?
I like to have a good bite to eat 2 hours before warm-ups, followed up by a quick nap.
At your position what do you like best, BIG HIT, SACK, FORCE FUMBLE, TACKLE FOR LOSSES
Definitely a Sack. They are ultimate adrenaline boosters!
If you could play another position what would it be?
Linebacker; I can’t see myself playing an offensive position.
